Do i have to be a resident of central texas to enter these contests?

Residents who are at least 21 years old. Unless otherwise indicated, no purchase is necessary to participate or win a prize. A purchase won't improve your chances of winning either. All contests are subject to and governed by applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Participation in this contest is void outside of the United States and where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. Texas Monthly reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend any Contest if the Contest cannot be completed as intended for any reason, including, but not limited to, a computer virus infection, “errors”, manipulation, unauthorized intervention, fraud or technical failure of any kind or any other cause that corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of such Contest. Texas Monthly's decision to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend any Contest will be final in all respects. All monthly Texas contests will be described by electronic, printed or promotional means and will be governed by these General Rules, unless the Contest has specific contest rules developed for them.

Unless otherwise indicated, entries by mail must be sent only by first class mail from the United States (express mail and courier service are not allowed) addressed to Texas Monthly, Contest Participant (include the name of the contest), P, O. Box 1569 Austin, Texas 78767-1569; and email entries must be sent to the email address designated during the contest announcement. The email account holder will be considered the Participant for any email entry. Only one entry in the contest is allowed per envelope for an entry by mail.

In consideration for participating in a contest, all participants agree to WAIVE, EXEMPT AND COMMIT NOT TO SUE Texas Monthly, the other contest entities (as described above) and each of their respective subsidiaries, divisions, parent and subsidiary companies, officers, employees, shareholders, representatives, managers, members, directors, owners, agents, insurers, attorneys, predecessors, successors and assigns (collectively, the “exempted parties”), from and against all claims, damages, charges, injuries, losses, proceedings, lawsuits, actions (including, but not limited to, actions for civil liability for defective products, actions for wrongful death, warranty actions, actions for breach of contract, actions for privacy and defamation, actions for misappropriation of image, identity theft, loss of consortium claims), expenses and attorney fees that they or anyone on their behalf (including, but not limited to, their heirs, representatives or family members more close) have or may have due to any death, injury, damage or alleged injury or damage arising out of, involving or in any way related to their participation in the Challenge, including, but not limited to, any claim that the act or omission reported was wholly or partially due to the strict liability or negligence in any form of the exempted parties. In addition, as consideration for participating in the contest, all participants agree to INDEMNIFY, EXEMPT FROM LIABILITY AND DEFEND the exempted parties in any action or proceeding that arises and against all claims, damages, charges, injuries, losses, proceedings, lawsuits, actions (including, but not limited to, liability actions for defective products, wrongful death actions, warranty actions, breach of contract actions, privacy and defamation actions, actions of misappropriation of image, identity theft, loss of consortium claims), the expenses and fees of the attorneys that they or anyone in their name (including, but not limited to, their heirs, representatives or closest family members) have or may have for any death, injury, damage or injury claimed that arises from, involves or is in any way related to their participation in the Contest or because of their failure to comply with the terms of the above exemption provision. This agreement to compensate, hold harmless and defend applies even if the reported act or omission was allegedly caused in whole or in part by the strict liability or negligence in any form of the exempted parties. Actual prizes and the value of each prize will vary for each contest.

Prize descriptions will be announced for each contest separately. The transfer, assignment, or replacement of a prize is not allowed, except that Texas Monthly reserves the right to substitute a prize for an item of equal or greater value in the event that an advertised prize is not available. No difference will be made between the actual value and the approximate retail value of any prize. No replacement or cash equivalent will be made.

Texas Monthly reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the prize awarded is unavailable for any reason. If tickets for an event are awarded as a prize, Texas Monthly is not responsible for the cancellation or rescheduling of the event for any reason and has no obligation to refund, refund or replace tickets with another prize if the event is not rescheduled or coupons are not issued. If the trip is part of the prize, Texas Monthly is not responsible for cancellations or delays in accommodation and has no obligation to refund, refund or otherwise replace tickets awarded as part of a travel award due to such cancellations or delays. All contests will be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the state of Texas, without reference to its conflict of laws principles. By participating in the Contest, Participants submit to the jurisdiction and jurisdiction of the federal and state courts in Texas and waive the right to have disputes arising from the subject matter of this document resolved in any other forum.
